About Me
Rosalind Hershkovitz (nee Mailer) is originally from Australia, she was born into a
musical family and showed precocious talent at very early
age, singing before she could speak. She studied music
majoring in voice and piano. She became a high school
music teacher in N-S. W and Queensland. Along with learning
piano she showed aptitude for all aspects of music but her
great love was singing. In early adulthood she pursued a
career in opera.
She is a
singer, songwriter, composer, and worship leader living in
Jerusalem, Israel. It was here, in Israel, that she met
and married her husband, Avraham and made aliyah.
Rosalind was resident musician at the Garden Tomb from 1991to 2001. In 2003 she joined the
worship team at Christ Church at Jaffa Gate, usually leading the
singing, and later became worship leader in 2006.
April of 2007,
Rosalind
was in the first ever
production of Handel's "Messiah" -IN HEBREW as one of the soloists.
Also in the past, she put
on 2 concerts, one in Jerusalem and one in Tel Aviv. She has
also composed 3 Biblical musicals, 2 of which have been
produced by the couple here in Jerusalem.
Rosalind also works together with an Israeli tour guide,
singing classical, pop classics and sometimes her own songs
to Israeli tourists coming to visit Jerusalem, the concerts
are usually a cappella. Venues have included Christ Church,
the Marronite Convent, historic houses on Prophets
Street and a church in Ein Kerem. She has performed at
least 150 to 200 of these concerts in these past years.
Also she
did a tour in England and upon her return she began
recording a new double CD of songs inspired mainly at the
Garden Tomb, on the Life of Jesus and the Resurrection.
Rosalind
is at present working on a live show based on the Hebrew
version of "I Have Heard your Cries" - to be presented in a
popular Israeli theatre in Jerusalem.
